Scent Detection Training

Give your dog a job that uses the sense they lead with. Scent work builds confidence, burns mental energy faster than a long walk, and suits nervous dogs particularly well.

Dogs experience the world through their nose, and most pet dogs never get to use that properly. Scent work gives them a task that is genuinely absorbing, and it tires them out in a way physical exercise does not.

We start with a simple find-the-odor game and build from there: more difficult hides, larger search areas, more distraction, and the handler skills needed to read your dog and trust what they are telling you.

It is particularly good for anxious or reactive dogs. Searching is a self-directed, low-pressure activity where the dog is in charge and cannot get it wrong, and that confidence tends to carry over into the rest of their life.

No prior training is required. Scent work is one of the few activities where an inexperienced dog and an experienced one can both start on day one.
