Board & Train
Your dog lives and trains with Justin
Good in the kitchen isn't the test. A leash, a stranger, a squirrel is - Justin trains him where that happens, at home.
Why train with Justin
Certified Master Dog Trainer
24 weeks, hands-on: Justin is a graduate of Highland Canine Training's Master Dog Trainer program in Harmony, NC.
One dog at a time
Never one of a kennel full - your dog is the only one in training. Every session, walk, and outing is one-on-one with Justin.
Lives in a home, not a kennel
What your dog learns is what it'll face at your house - because it lives on Justin's own household routine: doors, guests, meals, downtime.
Tools are a last resort
Justin trains without a prong or e-collar wherever he can. Tools are used only after we've talked it through and agreed - and the plan weans your dog off it over time.
Honest scope
We tell you what two weeks can and can’t do. No "100% reliable" promises - just a trained dog, a written plan, and enough lessons to keep it.
Real owner transfer
Most programs give you one handoff and a phone number. You get 2 to 4 Go-Home Lessons, plus a yearly Lifetime Refresher for the life of your dog.
Which program fits your dog
Four programs, one honest answer for each. Not sure which one? The free evaluation comes first - Justin recommends a length based on your dog, not the other way around.

Crate training, house manners, and a consistent daily routine
The first 3 days - when you'll miss him most - you hear from us every day; then weekly updates with photos and video
Not just one handoff and a phone number - Go-Home Lessons (60-90 min): first at pickup with Justin coaching you, the rest 1-2 weeks apart
Lifetime Refresher: a free yearly 1-hour lesson and re-evaluation, for the life of your dog
Written guides for every skill, plus phone and email support after pickup
For puppies in the 2 and 3 Week programs
The Puppy Track
Manners and routine, not formal obedience - a puppy's brain isn't ready for markers, release words, duration, or leash corrections yet. Every puppy's different; the pace below is typical, not a promise.
Days 1-3/4
Settling in and house rules
House rules from day one
Comfortable, on a routine, learning a home's rules.
Days 4-14
Training becomes habit
House manners, rules behavior adjustments. Weekends, public outings - real people, dogs, and noise, kept short
Consistent bathroom and house manners; knows its name, offers eye contact, understands slight obedience.
Last 2-3 days
Leash introduction
Leash obedience - no heel expectations.
Accepts the leash and walks without fighting it.
Week 3 (3 Week puppies)
Official obedience begins
Obedience , release word, beginning duration, leash adjustments - see Week 3 below.
Obedience is done on cue; a calm start on the leash.
Puppies go home with a routine, good habits, and a some obedience - you take it from there. Full obedience waits for a later 3 or 4 Week program, when they're ready.
The training curriculum
What your dog works on each week. Weekdays: training. Weekends: real-world practice - flea markets, dog-friendly patios - around people, dogs, carts, noise.
Week 1 of 6: Foundations
1
Foundations
Included in 2, 3, 4 & 6 Week
- Days 1-2

Life in the program
Your dog will know what's coming next before you do - here's the schedule that does it, hour by hour.
01

Potty break, structured walk
02
8:00 AM
Breakfast with manners (Obedience), then crate downtime for rest
03
9:30 AM
Training session 1 - obedience skills, (new skill or repetition)
04
11:00 AM
Real-world outing or yard session - proofing
05
12:30 PM
Obedience duration during household activity - calm settle behavior
06
2:00 PM
Training session 2 - leash work, recall, thresholds - reliability and handler focus

08
6:00 PM

09

The schedule adjusts to the dog's age, energy, and program week. Puppies get more rest, more potty breaks, more socializing, and shorter, simpler sessions.
What happens after training
Go-Home Lessons
Training only works if it transfers to you. At pickup, Justin walks you through every skill, then you run it yourself while he coaches. You leave with a Graduation Report Card, written Home Plan (schedule, cue list, house rules), and a guide plus video for each skill. Remaining lessons: 1-2 weeks apart, used within 90 days.
Lifetime Refresher
Dogs slip when life gets busy. Every program includes a free 1-hour refresher and re-evaluation each year, for life. Justin checks what's slipped and adjusts your Home Plan. Book it any time after your Go-Home Lessons finish.
The first two weeks: make it stick
Skip this and it slips - keep the crate schedule and Place routine exactly as taught.
Give each cue once. Reward the correct position. Release with "Okay."
Every walk uses the technique taught - don't use equipment that was mentioned.
Everything is supervised until routine is established.
Practice the amount and time given by the trainer.
Training tools
Tools are a last resort - nothing goes on your dog without walking through what it is, why, and how it's introduced, and getting your agreement first. Every tool starts at the lowest effective level; as your home practice stays consistent, your dog leans off it over time.
Prong collar
Dogs that pull hard, ignore leash communication on a flat collar, or lunge at distractions - only after discussion and your approval.
E-collar
Only after your dog understands the obedience cues, and never before the three-day introduction.
Before you arrive
Ready to reserve a start date?
The free evaluation comes first - Justin recommends a length based on your dog, not the other way around. You leave with a trained dog, a written plan, and enough lessons to keep it that way.
